Support Clean Sport (SCS) and Banned Substances Control Group (BSCG) are teaming up together to provide #AidforAthletes in this extraordinary time of need. Sport has taken a big hit as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and many amateur and Olympic athletes that rely on sport for their livelihoods are suffering. We are calling on clients, colleagues and friends to join us in an effort to provide direct #AidforAthletes.
No competition means no income for essential needs for many sportspeople who dedicate themselves to athletics. We are not talking about the high-profile, well-compensated athletes but the thousands of athletes in the Olympic and amateur sport movement that compete for the love of their sport. From cyclists, to weightlifters, to curlers, to swimmers, cross-country skiers, triathletes and others, we are aware of many who could use extra support at the moment.
SCS and BSCG are leading the charge on a fundraising effort to provide direct #AidforAthletes. Our goal is to provide an extra $1,000 each to 100 athletes in need throughout the amateur and Olympic sport movement. We need your help in raising a target of $100,000 to be distributed through the U.S. network of National Governing Bodies (NGBs) or other sporting groups and event organizers like USA CRITS to athletes in need. SCS and BSCG will work with these groups to identify athletes that qualify for assistance within their communities and distribute the funds directly to them.
SCS, a grassroots initiative of the 501c3 non-profit Anti-Doping Research, works to inspire a culture of clean sport with the SCS community of athletes and professionals leading by example. BSCG has been an international leader in third-party certification and testing of nutritional supplements for more than 15 years and is a cornerstone supporter of the SCS initiative.
Both SCS and BSCG were built by sport drug-testing guru Dr. Don Catlin and his son Oliver Catlin on a foundation of decades of experience at the forefront of Olympic and U.S. anti-doping efforts. For 5 years now SCS and BSCG have worked together to sponsor the Support Clean Sport/BSCG/Guttenplan Coaching Domestic Elite Cycling team competing in the USA CRITS series and other domestic elite races. This team embodies our message of clean sport and showcases the concept on the streets and on the podium.
As we were considering SCS fundraising goals and efforts for the year, we realized there was a much larger need at the moment among amateur athletes like those on our team. As a proud member of the Olympic family for years, we know there are many other athletes that could use some extra help right now. #AidforAthletes from Support Clean Sport is our way of helping the larger community of athletes.
To get the ball rolling, BSCG is pleased to donate the first $5,000 to the campaign. Please help us in our effort to bring support directly to Olympic and amateur athletes in need. We ask that you generously donate what you can today. Donations may be made through our GoFundMe Charity page or directly to SCS.
Please join Support Clean Sport and BSCG and help provide #AidforAthletes today!
