LOS ANGELES – May 16, 2018 – BSCG (Banned Substances Control Group), a leading worldwide independent certification provider, is pleased to announce that the body cream Ksikrem Forte from Repharm Pharmaceutical Reagent Institute has been BSCG Certified Drug Free®. This certification is believed to be the first by a third-party certification provider of a Russian supplement product.
“We at BSCG are pleased to certify Ksikrem Forte muscle cream from Repharm Pharmaceutical in Moscow,” said BSCG President and co-founder Oliver Catlin. “We believe it to be the first Russian product certified to protect athletes and consumers from contamination with prohibited substances in sport and other harmful compounds. Muscle creams and other cosmetic and topical creams are subject to similar contamination concerns as other dietary supplements or natural products. Ksikrem Forte becomes the first body cream to earn BSCG Certified Drug Free® status.”
“We are thrilled to have Ksikrem Forte certified by the world-renowned organization BSCG, which has deep experience in sports drug testing and anti-doping and offers broad protection for our product,” said Sergey Toroptsev, CEO of Repharm.
With an industry-leading testing menu, the BSCG Certified Drug Free® program tests for 274 drugs on the WADA Prohibited List or otherwise banned in sport, offering security to athletes across the spectrum of Olympic, professional, and collegiate sport internationally. BSCG is the only certification provider to include coverage against an additional 211 prescription, over-the-counter, and illicit drugs not banned in sport, which provides additional protection against these other potentially harmful drug contaminants.
In addition to its comprehensive drug-testing protocols, BSCG’s certification includes a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) quality-control process review, raw material ingredient and supplier review, and a general toxicology assessment. Testing is conducted in International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 17025 accredited laboratories. Ongoing batch testing is required with off-the-shelf random testing conducted on occasion.
Repharm’s Ksikrem Fort is a body cream developed by scientists at Repharm Pharmaceutical Reagent Institute for professional and elite athletes and lifestyle consumers. The product contains a unique bisphosphonate complex with the aim of helping to regulate calcium metabolism in muscles and joints.
BSCG (Banned Substances Control Group) was founded in 2004 by world-renowned Olympic drug-testing pioneer Dr. Don Catlin and his son, executive Oliver Catlin, to offer reputable manufacturers, brands, and distributors a third-party program to establish that their products are free of banned substance concerns and to provide consumers and competitors help in ensuring that what they’re consuming will not endanger their health or lead to positive drug tests. BSCG applies the Olympic standard of drug testing to contaminant testing, label verification, and quality control of dietary supplements and natural products.
