BSCG CERTIFIED QUALITY – THE DETAILS

BSCG Certified Quality is a third party certification designed to ensure the quality of products for retail and consumer protection. Annual testing of participating products or ingredients verifies ingredient identity and label claims and screens for environmental contaminants and our industry leading list of 507+ banned substances in sport and pharmaceutical drugs. Don’t just tell people you have the best quality product, show them with the BSCG Certified Quality blue seal. The program can be applied to finished products as well as raw materials and ingredients. The Certified Quality program is not designed for athlete, military or first responder protection.

Identity and label claim testing for dietary supplements and natural products follows national or international industry standards using methods and limits outlined by AHPA, AOAC, NSF ANSI 173, ICH Q3D, Health Canada, USP, EPA, FDA and others. Test methods may include LCMS, GCMS, ICPMS, HPLC, TLC, DNA, microscopy, or other methods as deemed appropriate. All testing is conducted in laboratories accredited to ISO/IEC 17025.

Certification indicates markers are within acceptable range, and contaminant limits meet or exceed national and/or international guidelines and/or relevant thresholds (state thresholds like Prop 65 will be shown but not considered from the standpoint of certification).

• One batch of each participating product or ingredient must be tested annually.
• Manufacturer(s) must be audited for GMP by BSCG or another qualified third-party every two years, or otherwise demonstrate compliance with relevant quality standards in the region of sale.
• Label claim testing includes verification of one or two nutrient markers. Additional nutrient markers (or other relevant specifications) can be added a la carte.
• Contaminant testing includes heavy metals, pesticides, and microbiological agents.
• Screening for our industry leading testing menu covers 507 drugs including 298 substances banned in sport and 209 prescription, OTC or illicit drugs no other group covers (includes all drugs required by Amazon in seller central for dietary supplements).
• Standard turnaround time is usually 20 business days after sample receipt.
• Initial product assessment considers general toxicology, banned substance issues, and ingredient compliance.
• In depth audit of labels, claims, and quality control focused on; supplier qualification, ingredient specifications and testing, finished product specifications and testing, adverse event reporting, and recall procedures.
• Certified items listed in BSCG Certified Clients database and marketing materials.
• BSCG Certified Quality blue seal can be used on packaging and marketing materials.
• Additional batches can be certified based on client needs.
• Testing conducted in ISO 17025 accredited laboratories using industry standard methods.
• Random purchases and testing of off-the-shelf items may be conducted at any time.
