The Certified Quality program begins with an initial review of GMP compliance or other relevant quality standards and a complete evaluation of the quality control process. In the BSCG Certified Quality program, participating items are tested annually and compared to quality specifications. In the case of finished products two nutritional markers are usually selected for analysis. For raw material / ingredient certification, the identity and specifications of the ingredient are verified. Along with verifying quality specifications, the Certified Quality program also tests to ensure harmful levels of environmental contaminants are not present including heavy metals, pesticides, and microbiological agents.

The purpose of standard operating procedures and GMP requirements is to create a consistent manufacturing process and finished product, but only analytical testing can truly verify quality.
